Spa Frequently Asked Questions
Got questions about buying, owning or maintaining a spa? Find answers to the most common questions the team get asked.
Spa Basics
What is hydrotherapy and why does it matter?
Hydrotherapy uses heated, pressurised water to support muscle recovery, circulation, and relaxation. The effectiveness depends on pump power, jet placement, and heating consistency.
How does a spa work?
A spa heats, circulates, and filters water while delivering pressure through jets. Key components include pumps, heater, jets, filtration (UV/ozone), and a control system.
How long do spas last?
With proper maintenance, quality spas typically last 10–15+ years.
Can I try the spas before buying?
Yes, we have a showroom with multiple models on display for comparison and offer 'wet testing' on site.
What’s the difference between your Plug & Play and Hydrotherapy spa ranges?
The Plug & Play range is 10 amps only, simple install, lower power, lighter use while the Hydrotherapy range has higher output, stronger jets, and is better for recovery and frequent use.
Performance & Build Quality
Why does insulation matter?
Better insulation reduces running costs and improves heat retention, especially when temperatures drop.
What control systems do your spas use?
All of our spas are fitted with Spanet systems (SV Mini, SV2, SV3 or SV4 depending on model), which manage heating, jets, and filtration.
Installation & Electrical
Do I need an electrician as part of the installation process?
Yes, for anything beyond a standard 10A setup. All 15A+ and hard-wired systems require a licensed electrician.
What does hard-wiring mean?
Hard-wiring is a direct electrical connection from your switchboard to the spa (no plug), enabling full system performance.
Is hard-wiring worth it?
Typically yes, for a hydrotherapy spa, it results in better heat recovery, stronger jets, and more reliable performance.
How far can the spa be from my switchboard?
It depends, but as the distance increases between the switchboard and spa, installation cost also increases, due to cabling and trenching requirements.
Running Costs & Efficiency
How much does it cost to run a spa?
This depends on usage, insulation, and power setup. Hydrotherapy spas cost more to run but deliver significantly better performance.
Should I consider a heat pump?
Yes if:
You use the spa frequently
You want lower long-term electricity costs
You’re running a larger or hydrotherapy spa
Council & Compliance (NSW)
Do I need council approval for my spa?
- Under ~2,000L → usually no approval
- Over ~2,000L → approval required
- Swim spas → always require approval
What is a CDC vs DA?
- Complying Development Certificate (CDC) = fast-track approval (if compliant)
- Development Application (DA) = full council process for more complex site
Do I need a fence around my spa?
- Spa Pools → If it has a lockable, compliant hard cover and under 2000L → usually no fence needed
- Swim spas → fencing almost always required, but it is ultimately up to the certifier
Delivery & Setup
How long does it take before my spa is delivered?
Timeframes vary, but some models can be delivered in as little as seven days depending on stock and site readiness.
What do I need to do to prepare for delivery?
Ensure the site has:
- A level base (concrete slab or suitable foundation)
- Electrical setup planned
- Clear access for delivery
Do you install the spa?
We deliver and position the spa and ensure its is operational, assuming an electrical connection is available. The electrical connection must be completed by your electrician prior to delivery.
Can a spa be installed in a tight or difficult access area?
Often yes, but it may require additional equipment like a crane delivery or additional logistics planning.
Maintenance & Water Care
How hard is it to maintain a spa?
With proper filtration (UV + ozone) and routine care, spa maintenance is straightforward.
Do I need to use a lot of chemicals with a spa?
No. UV and ozone systems reduce chemical reliance, but some basic water balancing is still required.
Warranty & Support
What warranty comes with the spa?
As part of the purchase you will receive a warranty card with the warranty detailed.
You can also find the warranty listed here.
What should I do if something goes wrong with my spa?
Contact us with details and photos. We’ll assess and coordinate repair, replacement, or resolution.
Is it possible to void the warranty?
Yes it it but this typically occurs through misuse, improper installation, or failure to maintain water quality.
Purchase & Payment
How does the payment process work?
Typically a 20% deposit secure your spa order.
The balance is due 7 days prior to delivery.
